Are you interested in playing women’s lacrosse? All girls who want to play lacrosse at Lamar will have the opportunity to play.

Lamar Women’s Lacrosse hosts an informational meeting in September for new and returning players and their parents. This is followed by a fall practice schedule which helps returning players renew and develop their skills, while incoming freshmen adapt to the high school level of play. Our regular season games begin in the spring.

We field both varsity and junior varsity teams, which provides all girls who want to play an opportunity, regardless of their skill level or experience. After the completion of the fall practices and prior to the regular season spring games, our coaches will designate players as either varsity or junior varsity based on their skill level, maturity, level of commitment, and other relevant factors. In addition to our regular season spring games, our teams typically participate in a number of tournaments and play days each year.

Lamar Women’s Lacrosse competes in Division One of the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League (TGHSLL). Our division includes both public and private school opponents including, Cy-Fair, Episcopal, Kingwood, Kinkaid, Memorial, St. John’s, and the Woodlands. During the season, we typically have the opportunity to play some of the Division Two teams as well.

Lacrosse is not a UIL sport in Texas and is instead operated as a “club sport”. Lamar Women’s Lacrosse is a club which is affiliated with Lamar High School, however, as a non-UIL sport we do not receive financial support from HISD and therefore rely on fees, fundraisers, and donations to cover operating expenses. The club is managed by a Board of Directors which is comprised of parent volunteers. Lamar Women’s Lacrosse is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and contributions to Lamar Women’s Lacrosse are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Lamar Women’s Lacrosse partners with Houston Youth Lacrosse (HYLAX) for practice facilities and fields for our home games. Lamar Women’s Lacrosse does not pay HYLAX directly for the use of their facilities, instead, each of our players also registers with HYLAX and pays the HYLAX registration fee. (For additional information on HYLAX click here: HYLAX) Additionally, each player must have a current membership with US Lacrosse, the national governing body of lacrosse.

Fall Practice

We typically start fall practices in mid-September and continue until early December. We practice on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Spring Season

Practices resume when school resumes in January and occur Monday through Friday. Our first regularly scheduled game is usually in early February with regular season games continuing through late April. The state championship tournament is in early May.

We typically participate in 4 to 5 tournaments and play days each year, including the Aggieland Classic Lacrosse Tournament at Texas A&M University in February. Lamar Women’s Lacrosse pays for players’ (but not parents) travel and lodging expenses for the Aggieland Classic Lacrosse Tournament. Additional out of town tournaments may be scheduled and Lamar Women’s Lacrosse may elect to pay for players’ travel and lodging for those additional tournaments.

Our home games and spring practices are held on the HYLAX fields at South Campus Sports Complex on W. Belfort (between Stella Link and S. Main). Our fall practices are held at St. Catherine’s Montessori school which is adjacent to South Campus Sports Complex. During inclement weather, practices will move to The Zone on Stella Link which is very close to South Campus Sports Complex. Google Map locations below:
